凯撒的童年非常幸福，相比那些在蜜罐里长大的人类来说，他更聪明更强壮。他甚至一度也觉得自己就是人类的一员。
他的主人牵着他走进动物园的镜头让人印象深刻，动物园的猿眼睛里应该露出的是羡慕的眼光。就像诸多民工面对曾和他们一起挤在宿舍却因为和领导谈得来被升为包工头的感觉，就像面对考上了公务员的同学忽然开着名车来看望老朋友的感觉。
直到有一天，凯撒看到了森林，直到有一天，他忽然发现人类对他并没有他想象的那么友善，他忽然意识到自己就是猿类，那些被关在动物园和实验室的才是他的同类。而他的母亲也是因为保护他被统治者杀死的！
